Cultivating healthy soils,

nurturing the future of farming

Philosophy

Our mission is to make the Soil Food Web work in agricultural realities. For us, true sustainability of farms begins with the long-term health and stability of soil.

The goal is to reduce dependence on harmful chemicals and costly fertilizers by sharing the wisdom already embedded in nature. We value each other’s experiences, knowing that meaningful change can only be achieved through collaboration.

Soil Biology is a Cornerstone, not the Whole Puzzle. It is essential—but it’s a piece of the regenerative farming system. While Dr. Elaine’s groundbreaking methodology provides a strong foundation,  we don’t stop there.

We are exploring new ideas that can enhance the biology, tools and instruments that make it work better, and practices that allow soil life to thrive.

For regenerative farming to truly succeed, soil food web must work as part of the larger system—collaborating with other products, techniques, and practices that regenerate land, increase resilience, and support farmers.

We’re a part of a movement rooted in soil, powered by shared knowledge, and driven by a common purpose.

We don’t claim to know it all — nature and farmers are our greatest teachers. Through continuous testing, knowledge exchange, and partnerships, we aim to connect the dots between science, practice, and intuition.

My Story

I am Ilona Angelova –  the person behind Soil Doctor

From fashion media to farm fields, my journey has been anything but ordinary.

In my mid 20s, I left the fast-paced fashion industry in search of a deeper purpose and a closer connection to the Earth. That quest led me to volunteer on farms across several countries, where I discovered permaculture and the vital role of soil.

I went on to earn a Master’s degree in Plant Protection at the University of Forestry in Sofia, and later gained insider knowledge of conventional agriculture while working on the Regulatory team of a major agricultural corporation.

Along the way, I launched community projects in education, edible landscaping, and a start-up in organic waste recycling— trying to bridge sustainability with real-world impact.

Most recently, I trained with the Soil Food Web School, studying Dr. Elaine Ingham’s renowned methodology for ecosystem restoration through soil biology. Now, I have my microscopy practice, new soil-focused projects, and I'm welcoming collaborations and connections along the way.
